The factor of humiliation on the Day of Resurrection is loss. And that Day is a replacement for the Day when they will be on their knees, bowing down, and rising up on their knees. It has been read as 'jadhiyah.' And 'jadh' is more intense in rising up than 'jathw,' because 'jadhy' is one who sits on the tips of his fingers. And from Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, it is said: 'jathiyah' means gathered together. And from Qatadah: groups from 'jathwah,' which is the group, and its plural is 'jathā.' In the hadith, this is part of the narration of Al-Harith bin Al-Harith Al-Ash'ari, who said: The Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, said: 'Whoever calls with the call of Jahiliyyah, he is among the people of Hell...' The hadith has been narrated by Al-Tirmidhi, Al-Nasa'i, Ibn Hibban, Al-Hakim, Ahmad, and Abu Ya'la. This is a note that the author used as evidence that 'jath' is the plural of 'jathwah,' which is the group. And in Sahih Al-Bukhari from the narration of Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, it is raised: 'On the Day of Resurrection, people will be gathered on their knees, every nation following its prophet.' 'From the people of Hell' [The term 'jathwah' in the dictionaries means: the gathered stones. And 'jath' of the sanctuary, with both a damma and a kasra, refers to what has been gathered of the stones for the pebbles.] And it has been read: 'Every nation' as a beginning: and every nation: as a substitution from every nation to its record, to the records of their deeds. It suffices with the name of the genus, as His saying: 'And the Book will be placed, and you will see the criminals fearful of what is in it.' 'Today you will be recompensed' is carried on the saying. If you say: How is the Book attributed to them and to Allah, the Exalted? I say: The attribution can be due to association, and it has associated with them and with Him. As for its association with them, it is because their deeds are recorded in it. And as for its association with Him, it is because He is its owner, and He commanded His angels to write the deeds of His servants. 'It will speak against you, witnessing against you what you have done with the truth, without increase or decrease. Indeed, We used to have the angels write what you were doing,' meaning We had them write your deeds in His mercy in His paradise. And the response to 'as for' is omitted, its meaning being: And as for those who disbelieved, it will be said to them: 'Did not My signs be recited to you?' The meaning is: Did My messengers not come to you, so My signs were not recited to you? Thus, the conjunction is omitted.
