Or have the polytheists of Mecca devised a plot against the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him? Indeed, We are devising a plot against them just as they have devised their plot. As His saying, 'Or do they intend a plot? But those who disbelieve are the ones being plotted against.'

And they would call out to one another and whisper concerning the matter of the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him. If you say: What is meant by secret and whispering? I say: A secret is what a man tells himself or another in an empty place. And whispering is what they spoke among themselves. Indeed, We hear them and are aware of them, and Our messengers, meaning the guardians among them, are writing that down.

And from Yahya ibn Mu'adh al-Razi: Whoever conceals his sins from people and displays them to the One who does not hide anything in the heavens has made himself the least of those who look upon him, and this is one of the signs of hypocrisy.
