Tafsir for verses: 43:63, 43:64, 43:65
63When ‘Īsā came with clear proofs, he said, “I have come to you with wisdom, and to explain to you some of those matters in which you differ. So, fear Allah, and obey me. 64Surely, it is Allah who is my Lord and your Lord; so worship Him. This is the straight way.” 65Then different groups, out of them, fell into disagreement. Woe to the wrongdoers because of the punishment of a painful day!

Commentary

The clear signs are the miracles. Or by the verses of the Gospel and the clear, evident laws by which is meant the Gospel and the laws. If you say: Why did He not clarify for them everything they differ in, but only some of it? I say: They were differing in religions and what relates to obligations, and in other matters that they were not commanded to know or to ask about. He was sent to clarify for them what they differed in that concerns them regarding their religion. The factions are the divided groups after Jesus, and it is said: the Jews and the Christians. So woe to those who have wronged; it is a warning to the factions. If you say: To whom does the pronoun refer among them? I say: It refers to those whom Jesus addressed in his saying: 'Indeed, I have come to you with wisdom,' and they are his people to whom he was sent.
