It was recited: Barā', with the opening of the bā' and with its closure. And Barī'ah, so Barī' and Barā', similar to Karīm and Kurām. Barā' is a source like Kadhmā', and thus it is the same for the singular, dual, and plural, masculine and feminine. It is said: We are Barā' from you, and the exception from you is that which has created me in another aspect: that it is an exception that is disconnected, as if it is said: But the one who created me, he will guide me. And it can be genitive as a substitute for the genitive with min, as if it is said: Indeed, I am Barā' from what you worship except for the one who created me. If you say: How can you make it a substitute and it is not of the kind of what they worship from two aspects? One of them is that the essence of Allah is contrary to all essences, so it was contrary to the essences of what they worship. The second is that Allah, glorified and exalted is He, is not worshiped among them while the idols are worshiped? I say: They said: They used to worship Allah along with their idols, and that it could be that 'except' is a description meaning 'other than', on the condition that 'what' in what you worship is described, its estimation being: Indeed, I am Barā' from the deities you worship other than the one who created me. It is similar to His saying, glorified and exalted is He: If there had been in them gods other than Allah, they would have certainly been corrupted. If you say: What is the meaning of His saying 'He will guide me' in the future? I say: It was said once 'He guides me' and once 'He will guide me', so combine between them and estimate, as if it is said: He guides me and He will guide me, indicating the continuity of guidance in the present and the future. And He made it, and He made Ibrahim, blessings of Allah be upon him, the word of monotheism that he spoke, which is his saying: Indeed, I am Barā' from what you worship except for the one who created me, a lasting word in his descendants, so there will remain among them one who unifies Allah and calls to His oneness, perhaps some of those who associated partners among them will return by the supplication of those who unified among them. And similarly, Ibrahim, blessings of Allah be upon him, enjoined it to his sons, and it was said: And Allah made it. And it was recited: a word in the light form, and in his descendants likewise, and in his successors, meaning: among those who succeeded him, meaning: those who followed him.
