Tafsir for verse: 41:40
40Surely those who adopt perversity about Our verses are not hidden from Us. So, tell me which one is better: the one who is thrown into the Fire, or the one who will come safely on the Day of Judgment? Do whatever you wish. He is watchful of whatever you do.

Commentary
It is said: 'Alhad al-hafir' and 'lhad', if it deviates from straightness, and digs in a trench. It is borrowed for the deviation in the interpretation of the verses of the Qur'an from the direction of correctness and straightness. And it is recited: 'yilhadun' and 'lhadun', in both dialects. And His saying 'they do not hide from Us' is a warning to them regarding distortion.
