He said, 'I guide you to the path of righteousness.' So he summarized for them, then he explained. He began by condemning this world and belittling its status, because attachment to it is the root of all evil. From it branches all that leads to the anger of Allah and brings misery in the end. Then he emphasized the greatness of the Hereafter and the reality of it, and that it is the homeland and the place of settlement. He mentioned the deeds, both bad and good, and the outcome of each, to discourage from what destroys and to encourage towards what brings one closer. Then he compared the two calls: the call to the religion of Allah, whose fruit is salvation, and their call to take partners with Allah, whose consequence is the Fire. He warned, admonished, and exerted himself in this, gathering strength. Indeed, Allah exempted him from the people of Pharaoh, making him a proof against them and a lesson for those who take heed. This is His saying, 'So Allah protected him from the evils of what they plotted, and there befell the people of Pharaoh the evil punishment.' In this, there is also clear evidence that the man was from the people of Pharaoh. Righteousness is the opposite of misguidance. In this, there is an implication similar to a statement that what Pharaoh and his people were upon is the path of misguidance.
