If you say: The detail does not correspond to the detailed one. [Mahmoud said: "If you say the detail does not correspond to the detailed one... etc."] Ahmad said: What is meant by the detailed one is the one who does not refuse and the one who refuses, as they have been mentioned previously. Do you not see that the Messiah and the close angels and those below them from the servants of Allah did not refuse to worship Allah, and they have been mentioned? This is indicated by the emphasis of the pronoun in His saying: 'together' (مِيعاً), as if He said: So He will gather to Him the close ones and others all together. And the occurrence of the action connected to the pronoun is a consequence of His saying: 'Whoever refuses' (مَنْ يَسْتَنْكِفْ).

The specification of the pronoun to the refusers does not clarify the exclusivity of the pronoun to the refusers, because the correct connection of the speech has been found included in this comprehensive pronoun for them and others. At that point, the detailed one would include both groups, and its detail would apply to it, and Allah knows best.

This is because it included both groups, while the detailed one is for one group only. I said: It is like saying: The Imam gathered the Kharijites, so whoever did not rebel against him, he clothed and carried him, and whoever rebelled against him, he punished him. The validity of this is for two reasons: One is that the mention of one group is omitted due to the indication of the detail upon it, and because the mention of one of them indicates the mention of the second, just as one of them was omitted in the detail in His saying following this: 'As for those who believed in Allah and held fast to Him.' The second is that doing good to others is something that burdens them, so it was included in the general punishment of them. It is as if it was said: And whoever refuses to worship Him and is arrogant, he will be punished with regret when he sees the rewards of the doers and what befalls him from the punishment of Allah.

The proof and the clear light: the Qur'an. Or he meant by the proof the religion of truth or the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him. And by the clear light: what it clarifies and confirms from the miraculous book, 'In mercy from Him and favor' in deserving reward and grace, 'and guides them to Him' to His worship, 'a straight path' which is the path of Islam. And the meaning is: Their success and steadfastness.
