Commentary
Surrounding Him are those who glorify with praise of their Lord, saying: 'Glory be to Allah and praise be to Allah,' enjoying themselves, not wearying. If you say: To whom does the pronoun in the saying 'between them' refer? I say: It may refer to all the servants, and that the admission of some into the Fire and some into Paradise can only be a judgment among them with truth and justice. It may refer to the angels, noting that their reward - even though they are all infallible - is not on a single path, but rather they are distinguished by their ranks according to their deeds. Thus, it is the judgment among them with truth. If you say: In the saying 'and it is said: Praise be to Allah,' who is the speaker of that? I say: The judged among them is either all the servants or the angels, as if it were said: And He judged among them with truth, and they said: Praise be to Allah for His judgment among us with truth, and for placing each of us in our rightful position. From Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her: The Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, used to recite every night Surah Al-Isra and Surah Az-Zumar.
