And it is recited: 'blessed' and 'let them reflect' is based on the original, while 'let them reflect' is based on the address. Reflecting on the verses means thinking about them and contemplating in a way that leads to understanding what their apparent meanings conceal of correct interpretations and good meanings. For whoever is content with the apparent recitation does not gain much benefit from it. The saying 'does not gain much benefit from it' in the authentic texts means: he did not derive great benefit from it. In it, 'the lactating' refers to camels specifically, the singular being 'lactating', which are the milking ones, like 'falous' and 'qalas'. The lactating ones are the milking ones, and the plural is 'lactating' like 'qurbah' for 'qurub'. In it, 'the prolific she-camel' means: one that produces a lot of milk. In it, 'the prolific' means: one that gives birth frequently. It was like someone who has a prolific she-camel that he does not milk, and a prolific mare that he does not breed. Al-Hasan said: 'This Quran has been read by slaves and children who have no knowledge of its interpretation. They memorized its letters but neglected its limits, to the extent that one of them says: 'By Allah, I have read the Quran and have not omitted a letter from it,' while he has indeed omitted it all. He does not see any effect of the Quran on his character or actions. By Allah, it is not about memorizing its letters and neglecting its limits. By Allah, these are neither wise nor restrained. May Allah not increase the likes of these among the people. O Allah, make us among the knowledgeable who reflect, and protect us from the arrogant reciters.
