He turned to their deities and went to them secretly, like the cunning of a fox, to their idols: to their statues which they claim are gods, as His saying, 'Where are My partners? Will you not eat what is yours? Do you not speak?' This is in mockery of them and of their degradation from the state of their worshippers. He turned upon them, approaching them stealthily, as if he said: he struck them a blow because 'turned upon them' means he struck them. Or he turned upon them to strike them. Or he turned upon them striking, meaning striking them. It was read as 'safaqa' and 'safaqa', and their meanings are: the strike. And the meaning of 'striking with the right' is a strong, powerful strike, because the right hand is the stronger of the two limbs and the most forceful. It was said: with strength and firmness. And it was said: because of the oath, which is His saying, 'By Allah, I will surely plan against your idols.'
