The world is close to you. And the adornment: it is a source like the relation, and a name for what something is adorned with, like the term 'liqa' is a name for what the pen meets with. This is supported by His saying: 'with the adornment of the stars.' If you intend the source, it is by attributing it to the doer, meaning: that the stars adorned it. Its origin is: 'with the adornment of the stars,' or by attributing it to the object, meaning: that Allah adorned the stars and beautified them. They were indeed adorned in the sky for their beauty in themselves. Its origin is 'with the adornment of the stars,' and this is the reading of Abu Bakr, Al-A'mash, and Ibn Wathab. This meaning has been read as: 'with the adornment of the stars,' with the adornment being indefinite and the stars in the genitive case as a substitution. It is permissible in the accusative of the stars: to be a substitute for the position of 'with the adornment' and a protection from what is carried on the meaning, because the meaning is: We created the stars as adornment for the sky and protection from the devils, as Allah, the Most High, said: 'And We have certainly adorned the nearest heaven with stars and made them missiles for the devils.' It is also permissible to assume an implied action, as if it were said: 'And as protection from every devil, We adorned it with the stars,' and it was said: 'And We protected it as protection.' The rebellious one: is one who is outside of obedience, having slipped away from it.
