Commentary
So turn away from them and ignore them and be angry with their harm until a time, which is a short duration, and it is the period of refraining from fighting. According to Al-Suddi, it is until the Day of Badr. It is said until death. It is also said: until the Day of Resurrection. And see them and what will be decreed upon them of captivity, killing, and punishment in the Hereafter. They will surely see you and what will be decreed for you of victory, support, and reward in the end. The meaning of the command to see them in the awaited state is to indicate that it will certainly happen, and that its occurrence is near as if it is right before your eyes.
In that is a consolation for him and a relief for him. And the saying, 'They will surely see,' is for warning as previously mentioned, not for a distant time.
