He meant by his going to his Lord: his migration to where he was commanded to migrate to from the land of Sham, as he said: 'Indeed, I am migrating to my Lord.' 'He will guide me' means He will lead me to what is good for me in my religion, and He will protect me and grant me success, just as Musa, blessings and peace be upon him, said: 'No! Indeed, my Lord is with me; He will guide me.' It is as if Allah promised him and said to him: 'I will guide you,' so he fulfilled his words according to the promise of his Lord. Or based on Allah's usual practice with him in guidance and direction.

Or by this, he demonstrated his reliance and delegation of his affairs to Allah. If he had intended hope and desire, he would have said, as Musa, blessings and peace be upon him, said: 'Perhaps my Lord will guide me to the right path.' 'Grant me from the righteous' means grant me some righteous ones, referring to a child, because the term 'grant' is predominantly used for children, even though it has appeared in relation to a brother in His saying: 'And We granted him, from Our mercy, his brother Harun, a prophet.' Allah, the Exalted, said: 'And We granted him Ishaq and Yaqub.' And We granted him Yahya. Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, said to Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them, when he congratulated him on the birth of his son Ali, the father of the kings: 'You have thanked the Giver, and blessed is the one granted to you.' Therefore, naming him as a gift from Allah, and with the terms 'granted,' 'gift,' and 'donation' has occurred. The good news contained three aspects: that the child would be a male, that he would reach the age of maturity, and that he would be forbearing. And what greater forbearance is there than his forbearance when his father presented him with slaughter, and he said: 'You will find me, if Allah wills, among the patient.' Then he submitted to that. It is said that Allah did not describe the prophets, blessings and peace be upon them, with anything less than forbearance, due to its rarity. And indeed, Allah described Ibrahim in His saying: 'Indeed, Ibrahim was truly forbearing, and he was a supplicant.' For the incident testified to the forbearance of both of them.
