Commentary
O regret for the servants! A call for regret upon them, as if it were said to it: Come forth, O regret, for these are your states that you have the right to attend in, which is the state of their mocking the messengers. The meaning is that they are deserving of the regret of those who regret, and of the longing of those who long for their state. Or perhaps the regret is from the angels and the believers from the two weighty ones. It is possible that it is from Allah, glorified and exalted is He, in a metaphorical sense to signify the enormity of what they have brought upon themselves and the trials they have faced, and His great denial of it and astonishment at it. The reading of 'O my regret' supports this interpretation because the meaning is: O my regret. And it is read: O regret of the servants, in relation to them due to its specificity to them, as it is directed towards them. And 'O regret for the servants' is read as if the connection is treated like a pause.
