And it is read as 'mu'jizīn'. So 'alīm': in the nominative and genitive. And from Qatadah: 'al-rajz': the evil of punishment. And it is seen in the nominative position, meaning: and the possessors of knowledge know, referring to the companions of the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, and those who follow in their footsteps from his nation. Or the scholars of the People of the Book who embraced Islam, like Ka'b al-Ahbar and Abdullah ibn Salam, may Allah be pleased with them both. 'That which has been revealed to you ... the truth' are two objects for 'to see'. And it is a separation for those who read 'the truth' in the nominative: he made it a subject and 'the truth' a predicate, and the sentence is in the position of the second object. It is said that 'yara' is in the accusative position, conjoined to 'li-yajziya', meaning: and to know the possessors of knowledge at the coming of the Hour that it is the truth. Knowledge that cannot be increased upon in certainty, and they argue with it against those who denied and turned away. It is also possible that he means: and to know those who did not believe from the scholars that it is the truth, so they increase in regret and sorrow.
