He means by saying: And neither your wealth nor your children are what brings you closer. This is because the broken plural's rational and irrational are equal in the ruling of femininity. It is permissible that what brings you closer is piety, which is what brings you near to Allah. That is, your wealth is not that which is designated for drawing near. Al-Hasan read: with the ones that bring you closer, because they are groups. It is also read: with that which brings you closer, meaning with the thing that brings you closer. Al-zulfah and al-zulfah are like al-qurbah and al-qurbah, and their place is in the accusative, meaning: brings you near as a nearness, like His saying: 'He caused you to grow from the earth as a plant,' except for one who believes, an exception from 'you' in 'brings you closer.' The meaning is that wealth does not bring anyone closer except for the righteous believer who spends it in the way of Allah. And children do not bring anyone closer except for the one who teaches them good and guides them in religion and encourages them towards righteousness and obedience. The reward of the doubling is from the addition of the source to the object, its origin: So those have the reward of the doubling, then the reward of the doubling, then the reward of the doubling. And the meaning of the reward of the doubling is that their good deeds are multiplied, each one tenfold. It is read: the reward of the doubling, upon: So those have the doubling as a reward, and the reward of the doubling is raised: the doubling is a substitute for the reward.
