Commentary
If you say: How did you make mercy a companion of evil in the context of protection, while there is no protection except from evil? I say: Its meaning is that it may strike you with evil if He intends for you mercy. So, the speech is shortened and runs parallel to His saying:
'Bearing a sword and a spear' [[And I saw your husband in battle ... bearing a sword and a spear.
Battle: war. And a spear: is in the accusative case due to something omitted that is appropriate, meaning: bearing a sword and carrying a spear. And it was narrated instead of the first part:
'Oh, I wish your husband had gone' meaning: went to war in the morning wearing his armor.]]
Or the second is carried upon the first due to the meaning of prevention in protection.
