Commentary
So when he felt from them the disbelief, a knowledge without doubt, like the knowledge that is perceived by the senses. And to Allah is a connection of supporters, implying the meaning of addition, as if it were said: from those who associate themselves with Allah, they support me as He supports me, or it relates to an omitted condition from the pronoun, meaning from My supporters, going to Allah, seeking refuge in Him. We are the supporters of Allah, meaning the supporters of His religion and His Messenger. And the disciple of the man: his chosen one and his pure one. Hence, it was said about the pure women that they are the 'hawaariyyāt' due to the purity of their colors and their cleanliness. He said:
'So the pure ones weep for others... and none weep for us except the barking dogs.'
[[Al-Lishkri says: So say to the pure women of the city, the ones with pure whiteness, they weep for others, a metaphor indicating that he is not among the people of luxury, then he forbade that anyone weep for them except the dogs that are taken with them for hunting, or those that have the habit of eating their dead in war, or those that bark at them when they approach their owners, a metaphor indicating that he is among the people of the desert and raiding.]]
And in its weight, 'al-hawālī', which means one who is very resourceful. They sought his testimony of their Islam as a confirmation of their faith, because the messengers will testify on the Day of Resurrection for their people and against them, along with the witnesses, with the prophets who testify for their nations or with those who testify to the oneness. It was said: with the nation of Muhammad, blessings and peace be upon him, because they are witnesses over the people. And they plotted, and the 'wa' refers to the disbelievers of the Children of Israel who felt from them the disbelief, and their plot was that they assigned someone to kill him treacherously. And Allah plotted by raising Jesus to the heavens and casting the likeness of him upon the one who intended to assassinate him until he was killed. And Allah is the Best of Planners, the strongest of them in plotting, the most effective in cunning, and the most capable of punishment from where the punished do not perceive.
