Commentary
He has mentioned the struggle without specifying an object, so that it includes everything that must be struggled against, from the soul that commands to evil, the devil, and the enemies of the religion. This is for us, for our sake, and for His face alone. We will certainly guide them to Our paths, and we will increase them in guidance to the paths of goodness and success. As His saying goes: 'And those who are guided, We increase them in guidance.' And from Abu Sulayman al-Darani: 'And those who struggle in what they know, We will guide them to what they do not know.' And from some of them: 'Whoever acts upon what he knows will be guided to what he does not know.' It is said that what we see of our ignorance regarding what we do not know is merely due to our shortcomings in what we do know, with the good-doers, for He is their supporter and helper.
And from the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him: 'Whoever recites Surah Al-Ankabut will have a reward of ten good deeds for every believer and hypocrite.' [Narrated by Al-Thalabi, Ibn Mardawayh, and Al-Wahidi from the hadith of Abu ibn Ka'b.]
