Commentary

The Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, praised those who acknowledged something similar to what they acknowledged, and this benefited him in the oneness of Allah and negated rivals and partners from Him. It was not an empty acknowledgment like that of the polytheists. They acknowledged what is a proof against them, as they attributed the blessing to Allah while they made worship for the idol. Then he said, 'But most of them do not understand what they say and what it indicates about the invalidity of polytheism and the correctness of monotheism.' Or do they not understand what you mean by saying, 'All praise is due to Allah,' and do they not realize why you praised Allah in their statement?
