Commentary
By the truth, meaning by the correct purpose. Mahmoud said: "Meaning by the correct purpose." Ahmad said: The term is a deterministic phrase and a bad belief that has already been denied regarding the determinists. If what they said were true in terms of meaning, it would be necessary to avoid this phrase that is not fitting for manners. And Allah, glorified and exalted is He, knows best. The truth is that it is to be the dwellings of His servants and a lesson for those who take heed among them, and signs of His great power. Do you not see His saying: "Indeed, in that is a sign for the believers"? And similarly, His saying, glorified and exalted is He: "And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them in vain." Then He said: "That is the assumption of those who disbelieve."
