Lot was the nephew of Ibrahim, blessings and peace be upon him. He was the first to believe in him when he saw that the fire did not burn him. He means by saying Ibrahim, 'I am migrating from Kutha,' which is in the region of Kufa, to Harran, and then from there to Palestine. Therefore, it was said: every prophet has a migration, and Ibrahim has two migrations. With him in his migration were Lot, and his wife Sarah. He migrated at the age of seventy-five years to my Lord, to where He commanded me to migrate to. Indeed, He is the Mighty who protects me from my enemies, the Wise who commands me only with what is in my best interest.
