It was read: 'Arj'ahu and 'Arjih' with the hamzah and with the lightening, and they are two languages. It is said: 'Arj'aituhu and 'Arji'tuhu', if I delayed him. From it is 'al-Murji'ah'. Mahmoud said: 'Its meaning is to delay him. From it are the Murji'ah who do not cut off the threat to the sinful and say: They are delayed for the command of Allah.' Ahmad said: 'The paths became narrow for him in explaining al-Irja', until he inferred it from the Murji'ah, and he attributed this title to the people of the Sunnah, for they are the ones who do not cut off the threat to the sinful believers, and they say: Their matter is with Allah; if He wills, He punishes them, and if He wills, He forgives them.

If the Murji'ah are the believers by His saying, 'Indeed, Allah does not forgive that partners be associated with Him, and He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills,' O Allah, bear witness that we are Murji'ah.' They are those who do not cut off the threat to the sinful and say: They are delayed for the command of Allah. The meaning is: He delayed him and his confrontation for the time of the gathering of the sorcerers. It was said: 'Hold him, gathering them as a condition that they will gather the sorcerers.' The saying 'as a condition that they will gather the sorcerers' refers to the guards, who were named that because they made for themselves a sign by which they are known, as indicated by the dictionaries. (A) And they opposed his saying: 'This sorcerer,' by saying: 'with every sorcerer,' so they came with the word of encompassing and the attribute of exaggeration, to calm his soul and ease some of his anxiety. And Al-A'mash read: 'with every sorcerer.'
