Commentary
A clear serpent, the appearance of the serpent is evident. There is nothing that resembles the serpent, just as there are things that are forged by sorcery and magic. It is narrated that it transformed into a snake that rose in the sky to the extent of a mile, then descended towards Pharaoh, saying: O Moses, command me with what you wish. Pharaoh said: I ask you by the One who sent you, do not take it. So he took it, and it returned to being a staff for the onlookers, a proof that its whiteness was something that gathered the onlookers to gaze upon it, due to its deviation from the norm, and it was a luminous whiteness. It is narrated that when Pharaoh saw the first sign, he said: Is there anything else? He brought out his hand and said to him: What is this? He said: Your hand. What is in it? He placed it under his armpit, then took it out and it had a radiance that almost blinded the eyes and filled the horizon.
