Commentary
He commanded him to trust in Him and to entrust his affairs to Him in seeking protection from their evils, while adhering to the principle of reliance and the foundation of seeking refuge, which is obedience to Him, worship of Him, glorifying Him, and praising Him. He made him aware that the Living One who does not die is truly worthy of being relied upon alone and not to depend on others among the living who die. And some of the predecessors said that when he recited this, he said: It is not correct for one with intellect to trust after this in a creature. Then he showed him that there is nothing of the matter of His servants that is up to Him, whether they believe or disbelieve, and that He is All-Aware of their deeds and sufficient in recompensing their actions.
