Commentary
The resting place: the place where they are mostly settled, sitting together and conversing.
And the place of rest: the place they go to for relaxation with their spouses and to enjoy their flirtations and touches, just as the affluent in this world live in such an arrangement. It has been narrated that the accounting is completed in the middle of that day, so the people of Paradise rest in Paradise and the people of Hell in Hell. In this context, Allah, the Most High, says: "Indeed, the companions of Paradise today are in occupation, joyful. They and their spouses are in shades on thrones, reclining." It has been said in the interpretation of occupation: the breaking of virginities, and there is no sleep in Paradise. The place where they are called and where they find comfort with the houris is called a resting place by way of analogy. In a better wording, it alludes to what adorns their resting place, such as the beauty of faces and the charm of forms, among other beautiful and pleasing things.
