The abundance of good is that if He wills, He grants you in this world better than what they said. This is that He hastens for you something similar to what He promised you in the Hereafter of gardens and palaces. And it has been read: 'And He makes' with the subject raised, as a continuation of 'He made': because when the condition is in the past, it is permissible in its consequence to be in the jussive or raised form, like His saying: 'And if a friend comes to him on the day of asking... he says, 'I have no absent wealth nor a sanctuary.' [The explanation of this evidence was provided in the first part, page 537, so refer to it if you wish, the corrector said.] And it is permissible in 'And He makes for you' if it is merged, for the 'lam' to be in the estimation of both the jussive and the raised forms. And it has been read in the accusative, as it is the response to the condition with the conjunction.
