Commentary
The clear signs are the verses that clarify in this surah and explain the meanings of the rulings and limits. It is permissible that the original meaning is clear in it, so it expands in the context. It has been read with a kasra, meaning: the rulings and limits are clarified, making the action attributed to it metaphorically. Or from 'bayana' meaning to clarify. From it is the saying: the dawn has been made clear for one with two eyes. And as an example from the examples of those before you, meaning a remarkable story from their stories like the story of Yusuf and Maryam, referring to the story of Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her. And a reminder is what has been advised in the verses and the examples, such as His saying: 'And let not compassion for them seize you in the matter of Allah's religion.' If only you had heard it, and if only you had heard it: 'Allah advises you not to return to something like it ever.'
