Commentary
The meaning is: They spread the immorality intentionally, with the desire and love for it. The punishment of this world is the prescribed limit. Indeed, the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, struck Abdullah ibn Ubayy, and Hassan, and Mistah. And Safwan sat for Hassan and struck him with a blow of the sword, causing him to lose his sight. It is said that he is the one referred to in the saying: 'And the one who took upon himself the greater part of it among them.' And Allah knows what is in the hearts of secrets and intentions, while you do not know. This means that He has known the love of those who loved the spreading of it, and He is punishing them for it.
