Commentary
And it is recited: 'on their prayers.' If you say: how is the mention of prayer repeated, both at the beginning and the end? I say: they are two different mentions, so it is not repetition. They were described first with humility in their prayers, and lastly with maintaining them. This means that they should not neglect them, perform them at their times, establish their pillars, and dedicate themselves to caring for them and for what their qualities should be completed with. Also, it was unified at first to convey humility in the essence of prayer, whatever prayer it may be, and it was gathered at the end to convey maintaining their numbers: which are the five prayers, the Witr, the regular Sunnah prayers with each prayer, the Friday prayer, the two Eid prayers, the funeral prayer, the prayer for rain, the solar and lunar eclipses, the Duha prayer, the Tahajjud prayer, the prayer of Tasbih, the prayer of need, and other voluntary prayers.
