Al-Ghamrah. The water that overwhelms the stature, so it is used as a metaphor for what they are overwhelmed in due to their ignorance and blindness. Or they are likened to players in the depth of water because of the falsehood they are upon. He said:

"As if I am striking in the depth of play, The nights of amusement call me, so I follow them... As if I am striking in the depth of play."

Ladhir al-Rummah. And 'Layali' (nights) is in the accusative case as a circumstantial phrase, and 'al-lahw' (amusement) is the subject. And 'Taba' (calls) means he calls him and attracts him. And 'Taba' the she-camel means to draw her udder when milking. This means that amusement calls me in many nights, so I follow it, as if I am swimming in a surge of water that overwhelms the stature, playing in it, so it is a second report. And it is narrated: 'Laghb' with the 'ghain' which means fatigue. And it is said that 'Layali' is added to the sentence following it, so it is a circumstantial phrase for what precedes it. And it is narrated: 'al-lahw' in the genitive case. And 'Taba' with a 'taa', so the subject is the pronoun referring to 'the nights'.

And from Ali, may Allah be pleased with him: In their depths until a time when they are killed or die.
