Commentary
He commanded them to seek knowledge from the people of remembrance, and they are the people of the Book, so that they may inform them that the messengers of Allah who were revealed to them were human beings and not angels as they believed. He referred them to those because they were supporting the polytheists in opposing the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him. Allah, the Most High, said: 'And you will surely hear from those who were given the Scripture before you and from those who associate others with Allah much abuse. But do not be saddened by what they say; and let them be a support for the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him.'
