Commentary
If you say: What is the ruling on the two actions after 'we heard a youth' and what is the difference between them? I say: They are two descriptions of the youth, except that the first, which is 'he mentions them', is necessary for hearing, because you do not say: I heard Zayd and remain silent, until you mention something of what is heard. As for the second, it is not like that. If you say: What is Ibrahim? I say: It is said to be a news of a subject that is omitted, or an address. The correct view is that it is a subject, because the intended meaning is the name, not the named, in the sight of the people in the state, meaning in view of them and sight. If you say: What is the meaning of the elevation in 'on'? I say: It is mentioned in the way of a metaphor, meaning: it establishes its coming in the eyes and the stability of the rider on the mount and his ability to remain on it, so that they may witness against him what they heard from him. And what he did, or they may witness our punishment for him. It was narrated that the news reached Nimrod and the nobles of his people, so they ordered him to be brought.
