Repeat: Or have they taken gods besides Him, in horror of their affair and in awe of their disbelief? That is: You have described Allah, the Exalted, as having a partner, so bring your proof for that: either from the perspective of reason or from the perspective of revelation. For you will not find a book from the earlier ones except that it calls for the oneness of Allah and His being exalted above partners, and it forbids associating partners with Him and warns against it. This revelation regarding the oneness of Allah and the negation of partners from Him, as it has come to me, has also come to all the prophets. It is a reminder: that is, a lesson for those with me: meaning His nation, and a reminder for those before me: referring to the nations of the prophets, peace be upon them. And it has been recited: 'the reminder of those with me and the reminder of those before me' with tanween. And it is a direct object that is accusative with 'reminder' like His saying: 'Or feeding on a day of famine an orphan.' This is the original, and the addition is from the addition of the source to the object, like His saying: 'The Romans have been defeated in the nearest land, and they, after their defeat, will be victorious.' And it has been recited: 'those with me' and 'those before me' in this reading with the preposition 'min' as an addition.

And the inclusion of the preposition with 'ma' is strange, and the excuse for it is that it is a name that is a circumstance, like: before, after, at, and similar terms, so 'min' has entered upon it as it enters upon its sisters. And it has been recited: 'the reminder with me and the reminder before me.' It is as if it is said: Rather, they have what is the root of all evil and corruption, which is ignorance and the lack of knowledge, and the inability to distinguish between truth and falsehood. Hence, this avoidance has come, and from there this denial has arisen. And 'the truth' has been recited in the nominative to place emphasis between the cause and the effect. The meaning is that their avoidance due to ignorance is the truth, not falsehood.

And it is also permissible for the accusative to be on this meaning, as you say: This is Abdullah, the truth, not falsehood.
