We showed him, we made him see, or we made him recognize its truth and he was certain of it. And he only denied it due to his injustice, like His saying, 'And they denied it while their souls were certain of it, out of injustice and arrogance.' And His saying, 'Indeed, you knew what these have not sent down except the Lord of the heavens and the earth, as clear signs.' In His saying, 'Our signs,' there are two aspects. One is that this additional definition is similar to the definition with the definite article if it were said 'the signs all,' meaning that it was only given the definition of the covenant, and the reference to the known signs which are the nine signs specific to Moses, peace be upon him: the staff, the hand, the splitting of the sea, the stone, the locusts, the lice, the frogs, the blood, and the lifting of the mountain. The second is that Moses may have shown him his signs and enumerated for him what was given to others of the prophets from their signs and miracles, and he is a truthful prophet; there is no difference between what he reports and what he witnesses. So he denied them all and refused to accept any of them. And it was said: So he denied the signs and refused to accept the truth.
