Commentary
Allah is the Guardian of those who believe. This means He wants them to believe and He treats them kindly until He brings them out, by His kindness and support, from disbelief to faith. And those who disbelieve, meaning they are determined in their disbelief, their affair is the opposite of that. Or Allah is the Guardian of the believers; He brings them out from doubts in religion—if they occur to them—by guiding them and granting them success in resolving them, until they emerge from it into the light of certainty. And those who disbelieve, their allies are the devils; they bring them out from the light of the clear signs that appear to them into the darkness of doubt and suspicion.
