Commentary
And for the divorced women is a provision, as a duty for the one who has divorced them, after he has made the provision obligatory for one of them, which is the divorced woman who has not been touched. And it is said, 'It is a right upon the righteous,' just as it was said there: 'It is a right upon the doers of good.' And from Sa'id ibn Jubair, Abu al-Haliyah, and al-Zuhri: it is obligatory for every divorced woman. It is said that it encompasses both the obligatory and the recommended provision. It is also said that the intended meaning of provision is the maintenance during the waiting period.
