Commentary
And it is a dislike for you from the aversion, as evidenced by His saying: 'And perhaps you dislike something.' It may either be in the sense of aversion, using the noun in place of the adjective for emphasis, like her saying: 'For it is only a coming and a going.' It is as if, in itself, it is due to their extreme aversion to it. Or it may be a verb meaning the acted upon, like bread meaning the baked, that is, it is disliked for you. And Al-Sulami read it with the opening, meaning it is in the sense of the included, like weakness and weakness. It is also possible that it means coercion in a figurative sense, as if they were compelled to it due to their intense aversion to it and the hardship upon them. From it is His saying: 'His mother carried him with aversion and gave birth to him with aversion.' And regarding His saying: 'And perhaps you dislike something,' all that has been commanded of them is in accordance with His saying: 'And perhaps you dislike...' For indeed, the souls dislike it, while it is good for them, and they love its opposite, while it is bad for them. And Allah knows what is good for you and what is better for you, while you do not know that.
