Allah, the Most High, is not described with amazement. Rather, it is meant that their hearing and sight on that day are worthy of amazement after they were deaf and blind in this world. It is said that its meaning is a threat regarding what they will hear and see that will distress them and shatter their hearts. The apparent meaning, referring to the wrongdoers, indicates that there is no oppression worse than their oppression, as they neglected to listen and look when it would benefit and bring them happiness. The intended meaning of clear misguidance is neglecting to look and listen. The matter has been decided; the reckoning has been completed, and the two groups have been directed to Paradise and Hell. It has been reported from the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, that he was asked about the decision of the matter. He said: 'When the ram is slaughtered and the two groups are watching.' [I did not find it this way. In the two Sahihs from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, it is reported: 'Death will be brought in the form of a white ram - the hadith.' In it, everyone will see it, and it will be slaughtered. Then it will be said, 'O people of Paradise, eternity, so there is no death, and O people of Hell, eternity, so there is no death.' Then he recited: 'And warn them of the Day of Regret when the matter has been decided.' And it has been narrated from Ibn Umar similarly without the recitation of the verse. There are also narrations from Abu Huraira in Ibn Hibban, al-Hakim, and al-Nasa'i. Al-Bukhari narrated it without mentioning the slaughter. Abu Ya'la and al-Bazzar narrated it from the hadith of Anas.

At the end of it, 'These will be secure, and the hope of those will be cut off.' And 'when' is a substitute for 'the Day of Regret' or is accusative with 'regret.' 'And they are in heedlessness' is related to the saying 'in clear misguidance' according to al-Hasan. 'And warn them' is an interruption or is related to 'and warn them' meaning: 'and warn them in this state, heedless and disbelieving.' It is possible that He will cause them to die and destroy their homes, and that He will perish their bodies and the earth and take it away.
