Commentary
And when you have separated yourselves from them, it is a speech from some of them to one another, when their determination was firm to flee with their religion. And what they worship is an object of focus, connected to the pronoun, meaning: And when you have separated yourselves from them and separated yourselves from their deities except Allah. It may be that this is an exception that is connected, as it has been narrated that they acknowledged the Creator and associated others with Him, like the people of Mecca. Or it may be disconnected. And it is said that it is an interjected statement, informing from Allah, glorified and exalted is He, about the group that they did not worship anyone but Allah. Mرفقاً is read with an open 'm' and a broken 'm', and it is what one benefits from: that is, they gain advantage. Either they say this trusting in the grace of Allah and strength in their hope due to their reliance on Him and the clarity of their certainty. Or a prophet informs them of it in their time, or some of them may be a prophet.
