Commentary
And We have certainly varied in this Qur'an. It may mean by this Qur'an the nullification of their attribution of daughters to Allah, because it is something We have varied and repeated its mention. The meaning is: And We have varied the saying on this meaning. Or We have caused the variation in it and made it a place for repetition. It may also refer to the revelation and mean: And We have varied it, meaning this meaning in places of the revelation, leaving out the pronoun because it is known. And it has been recited: 'We have varied' with lightening, and likewise 'so that they may remember' has been recited both with emphasis and lightening, meaning: We have repeated it so that they may take admonition, reflect, and find reassurance in what is argued against them. And it increases them only in aversion from the truth and a lack of reassurance towards it. And from Sufyan: When he would recite it, he would say: 'It has increased me in submission to You, as it has increased Your enemies in aversion.'
