And guidance and mercy are connected to the position of 'to clarify,' but they are considered as direct objects because they are the action of the one who sent down the Book. The preposition 'to' was used with 'to clarify' because it is the action of the addressee, not the action of the one who sent down. A direct object is only established when it is the action of the doer of the qualified action. What they disagreed about is the resurrection, because among them were those who believed in it, and among them was Abdul Muttalib, and matters of prohibition and permissibility, denial and affirmation for a people who listen with fairness and contemplation. For indeed, whoever does not hear with his heart is like one who is deaf and does not hear.
