Tafsir for verses: 16:114, 16:115
114So, eat the permissible and pure things from what Allah has provided you, and be grateful for the bounty of Allah, if you worship Him alone. 115He has but prohibited for you the carrion, the blood, the flesh of swine and what has been invoked upon with a name other than that of Allah. However, if anyone is compelled by necessity - neither seeking pleasure, nor crossing the limit (of necessity) - then, Allah is Most-Forgiving, Very-Merciful.

Commentary

When he admonished them with what he mentioned about the state of the village and what it was given due to its disbelief and bad deeds, he connected that with the conjunction in his saying 'So eat...' to deter them from the actions of ignorance and their corrupt beliefs that they were upon. He commanded them to eat what Allah has provided them of the pure and lawful, and to give thanks for His blessings in that. He said, 'If you truly worship Him,' meaning you obey. Or if your claim is correct that you worship Allah by worshiping the idols, for they are your intercessors with Him. Then he enumerated the prohibitions of Allah and forbade them from declaring them unlawful or lawful based on their desires and ignorance, without following what Allah has legislated through the tongues of His prophets.
