Tafsir for verses: 15:12, 15:13
12Likewise, We make it (i.e. disbelief) enter into the hearts of the sinners, 13(whereby) they do not believe in it (the Qur’ān), and this has been the way of earlier people.

Commentary

It is said: I threaded the thread through the needle, and I threaded it when I inserted it into it and organized it. And it was read: We will thread it, for the mention, meaning: like that threading, and similarly: We will thread the mention in the hearts of the criminals, meaning that He will cast it into their hearts. [Mahmoud said: "Its meaning is that He casts it into their hearts while they deny it..." Ahmad said: And the intended meaning, and Allah knows best, is to establish the proof against the deniers, that Allah, the Exalted, has threaded the Qur'an into their hearts and inserted it into their innermost parts, just as He has threaded it into the hearts of the believing affirmers. These denied it, and those affirmed it, each with knowledge and understanding, so that those who perish may perish upon clear evidence, and those who live may live upon clear evidence. And so that the disbelievers would not have an excuse against Allah that they did not understand the aspects of its miraculousness as those who believed understood it. So Allah, the Exalted, informed them from now, while they are in a period of grace and possibility, that they did not disbelieve except upon knowledge, opposing and striving without excuse, and Allah knows best. Therefore, Allah followed this with His saying: And if We had opened to them a door from the heavens and they had continued to ascend therein, they would have said: Our eyes have been dazzled; rather, we are a people bewitched. This means that these understood the Qur'an and knew the aspects of its miraculousness, and it entered their hearts and settled, but they are a people whose nature is stubbornness and whose characteristic is obstinacy, so that if they were shown the clearest path and the most inviting to faith by necessity of witnessing, that is, by opening for them a door in the heavens and ascending with them to it until they enter through it by day. This is indicated by His saying: And they would remain therein, for remaining is only during the day. They would say after this great and clear clarification: Our eyes have been dazzled and Muhammad has bewitched us, and this is nothing but illusions with no realities beneath them. So I record against them that they have no excuse for denying it due to lack of hearing, understanding, and reaching their hearts, and understanding as others who affirmed it understood, because all of that is available to them, and it is only their obstinacy and stubbornness and insistence that is the cause, and nothing else, and Allah knows best.]] Denying and mocking it is not accepted, just as if you had sent a need to a lowly person and he did not respond to you, and you said: Thus he sent it to the lowly, meaning such a sending is rejected by them and not fulfilled. And the place of His saying: They do not believe in it is in the accusative case, meaning they are not believers in it. Or it is an explanation of His saying: Thus We thread it. The way of the former ones is the method that Allah has established in their destruction when they denied His messengers and the mention sent down to them, and it is a warning to the people of Mecca for their denial.
