Commentary
So We have sent you, like that sending. We sent you with a sending that has a status and virtue over all other sendings. Then it explained how He sent him, saying: 'In a nation that has passed away before it, nations.' This means We sent you in a nation that has been preceded by many nations. It is the last of the nations, and you are the Seal of the Prophets. 'So that you may recite to them what We have revealed to you,' to read to them the great Book that We have revealed to you. 'And they are disbelieving,' and the state of these people is that they are disbelieving in the Most Merciful, the All-Encompassing Mercy whose mercy has encompassed all things. And whatever blessing they have is from Him, so they have disbelieved in His blessing in sending someone like you to them and in sending down this miraculous Qur'an that confirms all other Books upon them. Say: 'He is my Lord, the One, exalted above partners. Upon Him I have relied for my support against you, and to Him is my return, and He will reward me for my perseverance and my striving against you.'
