Allah is the subject. And that which follows is its predicate, as evidenced by His saying, "And He is the One who spread the earth." It is also permissible for it to be an attribute. And His saying, "He manages the affair" and "He details the signs" is a news after news. What supports this is what has preceded in mentioning the signs, "He raised the heavens without any pillars that you see." This is an independent statement, citing their seeing it as such. It is said that it is an attribute of pillars. The reading of Ubayy supports this: "You see them." And it was read: pillars, with two dammas. "He manages the affair" means He manages the affairs of His kingdom and lordship. "He details His signs in His revealed books so that you may be certain of meeting your Lord regarding the recompense and that this manager and detailer is one to whom you must return." Al-Hasan read: "We manage," with the pronoun 'we.' He created in it two pairs, two pairs of all kinds of fruits when He spread it, then they multiplied and varied after that. It is said: He meant by the two pairs: the black and the white, the sweet and the sour, the small and the large, and similar types of different categories. "He covers the night with the day," meaning He cloaks it in its place, so it becomes dark after it was bright. And it was read: "covers," with emphasis.
