Kill Yusuf. This is part of what was narrated after His saying: when they said, as if they all agreed on that except for the one who said do not kill Yusuf. It was said that the one who commanded the killing was Shimon, and it was said that it was Dan, while the others were pleased. They made it a command to a land that is desolate, unknown, and far from civilization. This is the meaning of its being indefinite and devoid of description. Its ambiguity in this regard is indicated by the use of the indefinite noun. 'Yakhlu lakum wajhu abikum' means that your father's face will turn towards you in a single approach, not turning away from you to anyone else. The intended meaning is the safety of his love for them from anyone who shares it with them and disputes them over it. The mention of the face is to illustrate the meaning of his turning towards them, for when a man turns towards something, he turns his face to it. It may also be intended that the face refers to the self, as Allah, the Most High, said: 'And the Face of your Lord will remain.' It was said that 'yakhlu lakum' means that he will be free from work concerning Yusuf after him, meaning after his sufficiency by killing or exile, or the pronoun may return to the source of 'kill' or 'cast away' righteous people who repent to Allah from what you have committed against him. Or it may rectify what is between you and your father with an excuse that you prepare. Or it may rectify your worldly affairs and organize your matters after him with your father's face being free. And you may be either in the jussive mood, connected to 'yakhlu lakum', or in the accusative mood with the implied 'that and the conjunction' meaning 'with', as in His saying: 'And you conceal the truth.'
