This is because Allah, glorified and exalted is He, sent upon them poisonous winds that would enter their nostrils and exit from their rears, cutting them apart limb by limb. It was said: He meant by the second saving the saving from the punishment of the Hereafter, and there is no punishment more severe and harsher than it. And His saying: 'By mercy from Us,' means: due to the faith that We bestowed upon them by granting them success for it.
