And it was recited: 'O Noah, descend,' with the letter 'b' pronounced with a dhamma, 'in peace from Us, as a Muslim, preserved from Us, or as a Muslim upon you, honored, and with blessings upon you, and blessed upon you.' The blessings are the growing good things. And it was recited: 'and a blessing,' in the singular. 'And upon nations from those with you,' it is possible that 'from' is for clarification. It is intended to refer to the nations that were with him in the ship, as they were groups. Or it is said to them nations, because nations branch out from them, and it could be for expressing the goal, meaning: 'upon emerging nations from those with you,' which are the nations until the Day of Judgment, and this is the correct interpretation. And the saying 'and nations' is raised as a subject. 'And We will enjoy them' is a description, and the news is omitted, its estimation being: 'and from those with you are nations We will enjoy.' It was omitted because the saying 'from those with you' indicates it. The meaning is that peace is from Us and blessings are upon you and upon believing nations emerging from those with you, and from those with you are nations who will be enjoyed in this world but will turn to the Fire. And Noah, blessings and peace be upon him, was the father of the prophets, and the creation after the flood is from him and from those who were with him in the ship. And from Ka'b ibn Muhammad al-Qurazi: 'In that peace enters every believer and believer until the Day of Judgment, and thereafter, of enjoyment and punishment, every disbeliever.' And from Ibn Zayd: 'They descended while Allah was pleased with them, then He brought forth from them offspring, some of whom were shown mercy and some of whom were punished.' And it is said that the intended nations who are enjoyed are the people of Hud, Salih, Lut, and Shu'ayb.
