A reminder has certainly come to you, meaning a comprehensive book has come to you containing these benefits of admonition and a warning about monotheism. And it is a cure, meaning a remedy for what is in your hearts of corrupt beliefs, and a call to the truth, and a mercy for those among you who believe in it. The essence of the speech is: By the grace of Allah and His mercy, let them rejoice; so by that, let them rejoice.

The repetition is for emphasis and affirmation, and it necessitates the exclusivity of grace and mercy in rejoicing over other worldly benefits. One of the verbs is omitted as the mentioned one indicates it, and the conjunction 'fa' (so) is included for the meaning of condition, as if it were said: If they rejoice in something, let them specifically rejoice in them, for there is nothing more deserving of joy than them. It may also be meant: By the grace of Allah and His mercy, let them take care; so by that, let them rejoice. It may also be meant: A reminder has come to you by the grace of Allah and His mercy; so by its coming, let them rejoice. And it has been read as 'let them rejoice' with the feminine pronoun, which is the original and the norm, and it is the reading of the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, as narrated. And from him, this is part of a hadith narrated by al-Tirmidhi from the hadith of Mu'adh ibn Jabal, who said: 'The Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, delayed us in the Fajr prayer until the sun was about to rise, then he came out and the prayer was established, and he prayed with us a prayer that was permissible, and when he finished, he said: What are you upon in your rows - the hadith.' 'So that you may take your places' - he said this in some of the battles.

And in the reading of Ubayy: 'So rejoice' - this refers back to that. And it has been read: 'from what you gather' with both the masculine and feminine forms. And from Ubayy ibn Ka'b, that the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, recited: 'Say: By the grace of Allah and His mercy,' and he said: 'By the Book of Allah and Islam.' It has been narrated by Ibn Abi Shaybah from the path of Mujahid from Ibn Abbas regarding the saying of Allah: 'Say: By the grace of Allah,' and he mentioned it. And from Abu Sa'id, it has also been narrated by al-Tabari, and Ibn Mardawayh narrated from the hadith of Anas, who said: The Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, said: 'Say: By the grace of Allah and His mercy.' He said: 'By the grace of Allah, the Qur'an, and by His mercy, that He made you from the nation.' And it was said: 'His grace' is Islam, and 'His mercy' is what He promised regarding it.
